The ethics of pharmacy

Charateristic of professional is a common concern with colective self-diclipine of the group. as part of the quid prp quo for certain legal prerogatives granted to his profession by society, the practitioner has accepted responsiblities for an ethical standard of  conduct going beyond conformity with law or technical skill. this has seemed particullary needful in health professio, such as pharmacy, where the service meet one of mankind's basic needs and where the patient often has no reliable means of judging the standard of services for himself. In a Profession this ethical obligation cannot be superseded by oassage of laws ; moreover, hpwever wide the net may be woven for controlling a profession through voluntary self-discipline (ethics). for the pharmaciest that means essentially a willingnes to help assure that a patient, at whatever time or place, may assume that a qualified practitioner invariably will use hos professional knowladge in the best interest of patient and of society - within a framework of interlaced thenical, legal, and ethical standards of practice.
in pharmacy, as other health profession, the ethical standards have been expressed through a professional oath and a professional code (historically, these two forms sometimes hybridoze). The oathordinarily is brief and general, intended to obligate and inspire the pharmaciest to abide by applicable laws, codified ethics, and the dictates of conscience and religious principles.
